Baltimore agency wins four “Best in Maryland” awards and three “Awards of Excellence” at annual event
Devaney & Associates has announced that it was awarded seven trophies at the Maryland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) “Best in Maryland 2010” award luncheon, held Thursday, June 17 at the Sheraton Baltimore North. The “Best in Maryland” awards are presented annually to public relations practitioners who, in the judgment of their peers, have successfully addressed a communications challenge with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. Devaney & Associates won awards for pieces in the editorial/Op Ed column, feature article, print newsletter, special purpose publication, story placement and community relation campaign categories.
Devaney & Associates received the first-place honor of “Best in Maryland” for its community relations program created for Market House of Annapolis, a 200 year-old historic landmark that suffered from years of failed businesses and political turmoil. The program was recognized for utilizing a variety of tactics and media outlets to effectively rebrand the new Market House, engage the community and spread a positive message about the new project. The efforts of Devaney & Associates generated more than one million media impressions and included coverage from all of Baltimore’s major newspapers and television stations. Devaney & Associates also earned three other “Best in Maryland” awards for a guest column for C-TASC, a clinical trial solutions company; Carroll Hospital Center’s print newsletter, Hospital News; and the story placement of Carroll Hospital Center’s Festival of Trees event on WBAL-TV.
The agency also received three “Awards of Excellence” in the editorial/Op Ed column, feature article and special purpose publications categories. Chef Jason Ambrose of Salt Tavern wrote an editorial column in the Baltimore Business Journal describing the downfall of restaurants in the tough economic climate, which secured over 29,000 media impressions. Devaney & Associates won two other “Awards of Excellence” for the company’s own holiday card and a feature article for Salar, Inc, an electronic clinical document solutions provider.
“Being recognized by the PRSA of Maryland validates our position as one of the area’s leaders in driving positive media campaigns,” said Diane Devaney, president of Devaney & Associates. “This year, our public relations team has accomplished a lot for our clients, including securing coverage in all of Baltimore’s major newspapers, appearances on local news broadcasts and contributions to nationally-read trade publications.”
